About the JEEPNEY and where the name came from
The word JEEPNEY is a combination of the words ‘jeep’ and ‘jitney’
A Jitney was an American taxi cab, and a Jeep (or GP) just a General Purpose military vehicle.
When American troops began to leave the Philippines at the end of WWII, hundreds of surplus jeeps were sold or given to the locals.
Jeepneys, sometimes simply called Jeeps, were altered and modified to suit the owner’s needs.
Often painted in flamboyant colours with lavish adornments, they frequently sported added artwork such as pop art figures and drawings of cartoon characters.
YOUR OWN JEEPNEY
The JEEPNEY has endless play value and can become whatever you want it to be!
If you use it with the seat in the forward position it becomes a 2 seat pick-up truck!
Even with the seat right back, there is still room for some boy’s stuff, a few soft toys or a small dog!
MILITARY STYLE
It can be a reflection of a diehard military vehicle from a bygone era finished in military drab, green and black army cam, sandy desert cam or tiger stripes for the jungle!
Paint it anyway you want and have fun!
